The increasingly popular National Bingo game has created yet another millionaire. The big bingo winner was a 64 year-old woman from the Basildon area playing at her local Gala Bingo club, and asked not to be named to stay out of the press.
She won a huge £1,023,353, on the last Sunday of the month when the National Game plays its play offs to find a guaranteed jackpot winner. However much the bingo jackpot prize stands at on the final Sunday, it has to be won on that day, by whoever calls house in the least calls in the participating bingo clubs around the country.
Speaking to the nation gaming body, the lucky lady said: “I am in total shock. I am still trying to get my head round it and it just won’t sink in. I have never been a lucky person, only winning £10 or £20 in the past. Nothing big ever.”
She told how she couldn’t get to sleep after the win, getting up at 5.30 to put some tea on: “Later on I went out and cut the grass, the same as usual. I don’t know what else to do. It is too much for me to take in. Not real.”
Her prize was broken down into the platinum jackpot prize of £942,249, national prize of £76,180, regional prize of £1,630 and the Gala Bingo club’s house prize of £240.
